Q: Typically, what is the weather on race morning?

A: Of course, the weather can vary. According to weather.com, the average high on November 25 is 67-degrees while the average low is 44-degrees. In the past seven years on race morning, the sky has been clear and the sun was shining.

Q: What if it is raining the morning of the race?

A: We cannot reschedule Thanksgiving, nor can we reschedule the race. Whether sun, clouds or rain, the Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble will begin at 9:00 a.m. on November 24, 2011

Q: How can I register before the race?

A: You can register online at www.eventbrite.com until midnight November 19. Additionally, you can download a race form, fill it out and send it along with a check to:

Q: How can I register the week of and the morning of the race?

A: You can register the week of the race at the expo on Tobacco Road. The exposition tent is located on the northeast side of Marion Square adjacent to Embassy Suites, 337 Meeting Street. Registration days and times are:

  • Tuesday, November 22 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 24 from 7:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.

Q: How much does it cost to register for the race?

A: Registration price depends on when you register. Prices are:
Early Registration -Ends at midnight on November 21st
$30 T-shirt optional.
Late Registration - Nov. 23rd and 24th
$35  T-shirt optional
Race Day Registration
$40 T-shirt optional while supplies last.
Long Sleeve Commemorative T-shirts on sale at expo for $10 while supplies last.

Q: Are there any registration discounts?

A: We are offering a discount to those age 75 and over. Registration is free without a T-shirt. T-shirt if wanted is additional.

Q: What is the Children's Fun Run?

A: The Children's Fun Run is an opportunity for kids to participate in the day's activities. The run will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Marion Square and will include the following four age and distance categories: participants ages 8-10, 200 Meters; participants 6-7, 100 Meters; participants 4-5, 50 Meters; and anyone age 3 and under will waddle through a course of 25 meters.

The time for each individual children's race is:

  • Under 3 run 25 meters 10:00 a.m.
  • Ages 4 - 5 run 50 meters 10:05 a.m.
  • Ages 6 - 7 run 100 meters 10:10 a.m.
  • Ages 8 - 10 run 200 meters 10:15 a.m.

Q: How can I register my child for the Children's Fun Run?

A: Parents and guardians may register their children the week of the race at the tent on Tobacco Road on the NE side of Marion Square next to Embassy Suites Hotel, 337 Meeting Street.

There is an entry fee of $8.00 per child and $12.00 for two children. The registration fee includes a "#1" running bib and, a free t-shirt! This year we are offering online registration. Registration for the Fun Run does not allow the child to participate in the 5K race. However your child may be pushed in a stroller while you're running the 5K race.

Q: Where are the proceeds from the race donated?

A: Every year a portion of the proceeds from the race is donated to various Lowcountry charities. Last year, the Turkey Day Run gave money to more than a dozen Lowcountry charities. Click here for more information on "Giving Back."

Q: Where and when may I pick up my race packet?

A: If you register online or via mail in the weeks before the race, you may pickup your race packet during Thanksgiving week under the tent on Tobacco Road between Marion Square and the Embassy Suites Hotel, 337 Meeting Street during our onsite registration times.

Q: When are the On-Site registration days?

A: On-Site registration days and times are:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 24 from 7:00 – 8:45 a.m.

Q: Where should I park?

A: When picking up your race packet, you can park on Calhoun Street, in the lot next to the Knights of Columbus Hall at 134 Calhoun Street, or in the Francis Marion Hotel parking garage. On the morning of the race you may use off street parking around Marion Square or in the Francis Marion Hotel parking lot.

Q: What can I expect after the race?

A: The Knights of Columbus hosts a post-race party in Marion Square. Water, food and refreshments will be available. Additionally, all will enjoy the sounds of live music.

Q: Will cash awards be given?

A: Yes, the top three male and female finishers will receive a cash award of $500, $250 and $100 respectively. The winner in the Master and Grand Master age group will each receive $100.

Q: What other awards will be given?

A: Awards will be given to the top 10 male and female finishers styled by a local artist in addition to the top finishers in each age group.
