FAQs
Q: What Kind of Weather Should I Expect on Race Day?
A: Usually we leave the weather predictions to the professionals, but typically temperatures range between 47-69 degrees Fahrenheit in late November in Charleston. We've been blessed with clear skies for the past eight years and we're hoping for more of the same in 2013!

- Nov. 26, 2009 - 56 degrees

Q: What if it rains on race day?
A: Just like the postman, we run rain or shine. So cross your fingers for sun and we'll see you out there!
Q: can i bring my dog to the race?
A: Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the race course. They are welcome on the square before and after the race.
Q: where should i park on race day?
A: A map with highlighted parking garages will be available when picking up your race packet prior to the race. Street parking around Marion Square and the race course will be blocked off on race day.
Q: How can I pre-register for the race?
A: Perhaps the easiest way to register for this year's race is online through Eventbrite, either on our website or at www.eventbrite.com. Online registration is available until midnight on Nov. 24th. Alternatively, you can download a registration form and mail it and a check to:

Q: WHat activities are available for kids?
A: The Turkey Day Run is a family affair and we've got plenty of activities for the little ones. At 10 am, we have the annual Children's Fun Run. The Fun Run is broken into four age categories:
- Age 3 and Under: 25-meter run beginning at 10 am
- Ages 4-5: 50-meter run beginning at 10:05 am
- Ages 6-7: 100-meter run beginning at 10:10 am
- Ages 8-10: 200-meter run beginning at 10:15 am
Each child participating receives a t-shirt (while supplies last) and prize after completing the race.
Additionally, we schedule other activities for children that vary by year. Past years have included bouncy castles, face painting and a Krispy Kreme dunking station.
Q: how can i register my child for the fun run?
A: You can register your child online or in person at the same time you register for the 5K. Entry fee is $10 per child and includes a running bib, free t-shirt and prize for participation. Space is limited to 500 runners so register early!
Participation in the Children's Fun Run does prevent your child from participating in the 5K and some families opt to have the entire family walk the race together. Strollers are permitted on the race course in the last corral only.
Q: what are the course records?
Competitive runners travel from all over to participate in the annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble and we track race records.
Men: Tamas Kovacks - 14:31 (2008)
Women: Maggie Kraft - 16:32 (1990)
Q: what kinds of awards will be given out at the race?
A: Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the amount of $500,$250, and $100, respectively. The winners of the Master and Grand Master age groups will each receive $100.
The top 10 male and female overall finishers will each receive framed artwork of the t-shirt design by local artist Jonathan Miller. The top three finishers in each age group will win a small trophy.
Note: Beginning in 2012, there will be a $500 bonus for setting a new course record, courtesy of Charlestowne Road Race Services.
